PTSC Thanh Hoa successfully organizes Hazop – Lopa Workshop for The Stg3 Steam Turbine Replacement Project – NSRP

On Jun 2nd and 3rd, 2025, PTSC Thanh Hoa collaborated with related Parties to hold HAZOP – LOPA Workshop (Hazard and Operability Study & Layer of Protection Analysis) for project of replacement and improvement for STG3 Steam Turbine with capacity of 41.4MW under Nghi Son Refinery & Petrochemical Plant (NSRP).

Attending the workshop, there were the presence of the Representatives of NSRP – The Owner, Mitsui E&S Engineering Co., Ltd Company (MES) – The Manufacturer of Steam Turbine and PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC), PTSC Thanh Hoa Technical Services Company (PTSC Thanh Hoa) and Technical Partners such as SETECH, DBA and CTCI. This is a crucial event in the detailed engineering phase of the project, aiming to identify early potential hazards and abnormal operating situations related to the STG3 steam turbine system, thereby ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with strict international engineering and operating standards of the petrochemical industry.

The Workshop amongst NSRP, PTSC/PTSC Thanh Hoa, MES and Technical Partners

At the Workshop, the experts of NSRP, MES, PTSC, PTSC Thanh Hoa and Technical Partners worked together to thoroughly analyze, review the PFDs, P&IDs, as well as the engineering operating conditions of the STG3 steam turbine system. A series of hypothetical situations were considered and comprehensively evaluated, from which appropriate protective measures, technical recommendations and updates were made to the detailed engineering of the project. While the HAZOP method is used to systematically identify risks, LOPA (Layer of Protection Analysis) aims to quantitatively assess the level of risk, minimize the consequences of hazards, and look forward to optimal, safe and efficient operation.

With the determination of all engineers, experts and the consensus among the participating parties, the STG3 Steam Turbine replacement project is being implemented according to plan, aiming to put the unit into operation as soon as possible. Thereby, it makes a significant contribution to ensure a stable power source for the production activities of Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Plant - one of the national key projects in the energy sector.
