300,000 safe man-hours achieved – a major milestone in the STG#3 Replacement Project at Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical LLC

On 30 July 2026, the STG#3 Project Team celebrated the achievement of 300,000 Safe Man-Hours at Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical LLC (NSRP). The ceremony was attended by representatives of NSRP, PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC), PTSC Thanh Hoa, and members of the STG#3 Project Team. This milestone marks a significant achievement in the execution of the project and demonstrates the effectiveness of its Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) management system.

Throughout project execution, the STG#3 Project Team has consistently placed safety as its highest priority in every construction activity. HSE requirements have been systematically integrated into every stage of the project, from planning, Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA), preparation of work method statements, Permit-to-Work (PTW) management, daily Toolbox Meetings (TBM), and site supervision to regular inspections and compliance audits. These control measures have been rigorously implemented to minimize risks, prevent incidents, and ensure that all activities are carried out in full compliance with NSRP's HSE requirements.

As of this milestone, the STG#3 Project has successfully achieved 300,000 Safe Man-Hours while maintaining 489 consecutive days without a Lost Time Injury (Zero LTI). This achievement reflects the effectiveness of the project's HSE management system and the unwavering commitment of the project leadership, engineers, supervisors, and workforce to maintaining a safe working environment.

Alongside site safety management, the Safety Behavior Observation (SBO) program has been actively implemented to strengthen employees' safety awareness and encourage safe work practices. To date, the STG#3 Project Team has recorded 280 positive safety observations and identified 20 opportunities for improvement, resulting in a positive observation ratio of more than 93.3%. All identified opportunities have been tracked, corrected, and verified to ensure effective implementation, contributing to continuous improvement of HSE performance and the development of a proactive safety culture.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Hong Duc, HSE Section Manager of NSRP, highly appreciated the STG#3 Project Team's outstanding HSE performance. He emphasized that achieving 300,000 Safe Man-Hours reflects strict compliance with safety standards, close cooperation among all stakeholders, and the strong commitment and responsibility demonstrated by every member of the project team.

Representing PTSC, Mr. Nguyen Khac Dung, Deputy Head of PTSC Industrial Division and Deputy Project Director of the STG#3 Project, reaffirmed that: "Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) has always been one of PTSC's core values in project execution. The STG#3 Project Team should continue strengthening site controls, enhancing supervision, and improving hazard identification and risk prevention to ensure that the remaining work scope is completed safely, with the required quality, and in accordance with the project schedule”.

Representing for PTSC Thanh Hoa, Mr. Nguyen Ba Tuan, Deputy General Director of PTSC Thanh Hoa and Project Manager of the STG#3 Project, remarks and reaffirmed, the STG#3 Project Leadership's commitment to maintaining a strong safety culture as the foundation of all construction activities. He stated that the achievement of 300,000 Safe Man-Hours is not only a significant milestone but also a motivation for the entire project team to continue upholding discipline, strengthening safety awareness, and maintaining strict compliance with HSE standards. The ultimate objective is to ensure that everyone returns home safely after every work shift while maintaining the Zero LTI record through project completion and handover to NSRP.
