Firefighting – Rescue - Oil & chemical drill spill drill at Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Plant

In order to ensure security and safety for oil and gas key national projects in general and Nghi Son Refinery Project in detail, Prime Minister has steered Ministry of Public Security and Thanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee to implement active measures to response to fire explosion and chemical incidents.

On 27th August 2019, Vietnam Fire and Rescue Police Department and Ministry of Public Security cooperated with Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, Thanh Hoa Industry and Trade Department conducted firefighting operations and practice training in hypothetical situation.

This is a large size drill with complicated situations which needs to mobilize equipment and manpower from many companies in Thanh Hoa. PTSC Thanh Hoa mobilized 03 maritime vessels including Tan Cang 62, Sea Winner, and Tan Cang A8 attended by 250 people and more than 40 equipment and vehicles.

The hypothetical situation was a VLCC 10.000 tons receiving sulfur at Berth 1A, then there was an incident causing fire in the conveyor and the fire spread to the sulfur bulk on VLCC.

Finishing the drill, Mr. Atsushi Yamamoto – General Director of Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Plant highly evaluated the spirit and efforts of all the forces attended. The drill was organized successfully. On this occasion, representatives of Vietnam Fire and Rescue Police Department and Chief Police of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police gave merits to all forces.
