At the headquarter of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN), President & CEO Nguyen Vu Truong Son has recently welcomed Mr. Paul A. Greenwood - ExxonMobil Vice President for Americas, Africa and Asia Pacific Business Development (USA). At this meeting, ExxonMobil's leaders expressed their wish to receive the support of the Vietnamese Government for the cooperation agreements on the Blue Whale Project to be implemented smoothly, bringing practical benefits for both parties.
Mr. Nguyen Vu Truong Son welcomed Mr. Paul A. Greenwood in Hanoi.
At the meeting, Mr. Paul A. Greenwood updated the implementation of the Blue Whale Project and the results that have been achieved up to present. He also expressed his desire to receive the support of the Vietnamese government, the ministries and PVN for the cooperation agreements of the Blue Whale Project.
ExxonMobil executives also pledged that, as soon as the deals are reached, they would focus on mobilizing facilities, human resources, technology, and financial resources to accelerate cooperative programs in 2018.
On behalf of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN), President and CEO Nguyen Vu Truong Son appreciated the positive cooperation of ExxonMobil. He also emphasized that PVN would support and accompany with ExxonMobil in resolving the difficulties and problems to ensure the Blue Whale Project is implemented on schedule with quality assurance.
According to the source of the Vietnam Energy Magazine, the Blue Whale gas field's reserves are estimated to reach 150 billion cubic meters, three times more than those of Lan Tay and Lan Do (the Nam Con Son gas project - the largest gas field in VN currently)
The Blue Whale Field is located about 100 km east of the Central Coast, operated by ExxonMobil. The project has a total investment of about $ 4.6 billion, with a life span of about 25 years.
