Prime Minister attended NSRP’s commercial operation ceremony

In the afternoon of December 23^rd, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended the commercial operation ceremony of Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Project after more than 5 years of construction and commissioning.

Delegates attended the ceremony.

Attending the meeting were members of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and leaders of the Party and the State; representatives of state departments, ministries, central branches and some localities in the North Central economic region. On the side of the Ministries, there were members of the Central Party Committee. On the international side, there was Mr. Motoo Hayashi, Acting General Secretary of the Democratic Party of Japan; Mr. Van-xay Pheng-su-ma, Member of the Central Committee of Laos Revolutionary Party, Secretary of Hua Phan Province (Laos); representatives of diplomatic agencies and international organizations in Vietnam.

On behalf of PetroVietnam (PVN), there were attendances of  Mr. Thanh S. Tr, Chairman of the Council member of PetroVietnam, Mr. Son. V.T.Ng, President of PetroVietnam, Mr. Hung. M. Le, Vice President of PetroVietnam as well as representatives of departments of PetroVietnam.

Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Complex Project is a national key project, built on an area of ​​400ha in Nghi Son Economic Zone, Tinh Gia District, Thanh Hoa Province. The designed oil refinery capacity reaches 200,000 barrels/day (equivalent to 10 million tons / year) using raw oil materials imported from Kuwait (KEC).

Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Project is a large-scale project with deep processing level ranked No. 2 in the "Top Project Awards" oil refinery projects in 2016 voted by leading and prestigious specialized magazines - Hydrocarbon Processing world.

On Nov 3rd, 2018, the process of testing and acceptance of technical specifications of the whole plant was successfully completed. On Nov 15^th, 2018, the project has reached the pre-acceptance test, ending the construction phase and moving to the stage of commercial operation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc highly appreciated the efforts of EPC Contractor, domestic as well as foreign contractors with the spirit of overcoming difficulties, of enthusiastic and creative labor. Prime Minister stated that Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Project, which is put into commercial operation, has important significance in terms of politics, economy, society, security and defense in the process of national development, contributing to ensuring national energy security.

After today's event, Prime Minister proposed Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Limited Liability Company (NSRP) to continue to achieve the achieved results. It is also necessary to manage and operate properly in order to run the project safely, stably ensuring the quality of output products.

Prime Minister also requested functional ministries to coordinate closely with Thanh Hoa province and other provinces in the region to quickly review and supplement comprehensive socio-economic development plans; creating favorable conditions to attract domestic and international investment resources. From there, Thanh Hoa shall be the center of economy, industry and trade of North Central region.
