Petroleum Industry and changes in the South of Vietnam

The formation of Ca Mau Gas - Electricity - Fertilizer Industrial Complex has created new resilience for the south of the country, laying an important foundation for Ca Mau industry to develop at a fast pace and fundamental economic changes among the structure in the Mekong Delta.

After more than 12 years from the date of receiving PM3 gas field ashore (April 29^th 2007), Ca Mau Gas - Electricity - Fertilizer Industrial Complex has brought great value. PV GAS Ca Mau, which operates PM3-CM gas pipeline, has officially reached the milestone of receiving 20 billion cubic meters of gas, bringing a total revenue of 42,000 billion dong, of which more than 9,600 billion dong is contributed to budget of Ca Mau province. With a power output of over 8 billion kWh/year, accounting for nearly 5% of the national electricity production, Ca Mau Power Plant 1 & 2 has so far achieved the total output of over 80 billion kWh, with stable Mekong Delta region. Accumulated revenue reached over VND 108,100 billion, paying over VND 2,750 billion to the state budget. Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant operates absolutely safely with an optimal capacity of 103 - 107%, reaching an output of over 800,000 tons per year and has welcomed the fifth ton of products in the quarter 2/2018. Annually, Ca Mau Gas - Electricity - Fertilizer Industrial Complex contributes to the provincial budget of over 2,000 billion VND, accounting for 40% - 50% of the provincial budget. At the same time, creating jobs for about 1,500 workers, of which the laborers in Mekong Delta are about 690 laborers.

In May 2018, the southernmost region of the country became brighter when Ca Mau Gas Processing Plant (GPP Ca Mau) in the chain of Gas - Electricity - Fertilizer projects in Ca Mau was inaugurated and put into operation. In 2018, GPP Ca Mau produced 156 thousand tons of LPG and 10,000 tons of condensate, adding about 10% of the domestic market demand, contributing VND 220 billion to the budget. Only in the first 6 months of 2019, the factory provided 80,000 tons of LPG and 6 thousand tons of condensate to the market.

Ca Mau Gas - Electricity - Fertilizer Industrial Complex has created a strong resilience to change the economic structure of Ca Mau, industrial development, promoting economic development in the Southwest region. After these projects come into operation, the products of gas - electricity - fertilizer have strongly boosted the economy, life of Ca Mau province and neighboring provinces; creating conditions for other industrial establishments to use low pressure gas sources to produce chemical products of raw materials and auxiliary materials in service of production and people's life.

With the leverage from Ca Mau Gas - Electricity - Fertilizer Industrial Complex, it makes an important contribution to help the economy of Ca Mau province continuously achieve high growth rates, scale and potentials to continuously expand. If in 1999 the economic growth rate was 10.78%, the average income per capita was only 6.8 million / year, the rate of poor households accounted for 7% ... then the economy has always kept the growth rate quite high, on average 14% / year, per capita income reached 42.4 million VND / person / year (equivalent to 1,880 USD; 15.29 times higher than 1999), the poverty rate decreased to 0.9%. The gross domestic product (GRDP) in 2018 reached VND 40,480 billion, an increase of 7% compared to 2017.

In the seminar, the 60^th anniversary of Vietnam Oil and Gas industry implemented Uncle Ho's wish (July 23^rd 1959 - July 23^rd 2019) held in Ca Mau City recently, Mr.Su.L.V, Vice Chairman off Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee also affirmed that the formation of Ca Mau Gas - Power - Fertilizer Industrial Group invested by Vietnam Oil and Gas Group shows the concern of the Party and State to promote the region's potentials and strengths off U Minh arrea, creating a very important mark to promote socio-economic development of Ca Mau.
