Petroleum workers together overcome difficulties

COVID-19 virus has been dangerous in 200 countries and territories. Crude oil prices have sharply decreased creating double crisis for Petroleum industry. PetroVietnam has faced with many difficulties and challenges. In that context, Petroleum workers, on all the sites, offshore works, factories, plants, by their specific actions, have joined and contributed to overcome these challenging period.

Mr. Nghia – Deputy Works Manager of Oil Rig PQP – HT (Bien Dong POC): “Facing the outbreak of Covid-19 epidemic, the Board of Directors of the company has promptly implemented a series of measures to prevent and control epidemics in all activities onshore and offshore. For employees working off-shore, before going to the sea, must declare the moving schedule, place of residence to control the disease and ensure 14- day isolation at home before going offshore

Mr. Nghia – Deputy Works Manager of PQP – HT Oil Rig (Bien Dong POC).

To minimize movement, we have to work overtime from 3 weeks up to 4 weeks, the contractors are also requested to reduce movement if unnecessary. For that reason, the volume of work has been increased. All employees are checked by doctors twice a week. Especially, the oil rig has been designed to add some rooms for isolation in the case of suspected cases. The ventilation of the room is separated from the general system of the whole oil rig to ensure the safety”.

Mr. Son. T. Nguyen – Electrician at the center gas rig (Vietsovpetro): “During the time of the deep decrease in crude oil price and Covid 19 pandemic, Vietsovpetro has cancelled all the flights till 15th Apr. Thus, our offshore shifts have to be extended than planned one. However, all the activities on the rig are implemented to reach the production target”.

T.Trinh – Marine Officer – Diving and Transportation Center (Vietsovpetro): We always follow the rules of wearing masks, washing hands and implementing the medical recommendation; utilizing all facilities; increasing the work performance, reducing production costs.  We are willing to share the difficulties and continue working with our best efforts”.

Mr. Truc. A. Nguyen – Shift Manager, Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant (PVCFC): Ca Mau is a factory with the schedule of 24/24 hours working. We still have to work with foreign customers and clients then risks are potential. The BODs has realized the risks and had in time preventive measures. For example, it is imperative that we wear a 100% respirator mask when working and have regular body temperature measurements. We are also arranged get on 45 seat car with the number of no more than 20 people. In lunch time, a table is set up for 2 people only. Depending on the job position, you can work online at home, online meeting to minimize contact. However, the on duty positions work as normal, including public holidays or social distancing. We are divided into two shifts: day and night, work for 2 days and off for 2 days.
