PVN announced The VN-Index

 

On 3rd August 2012, Vietnam National Oil and Gas group (PetroVietnam) has organized "the Festival announced The PVN Index-Index"-the index reflects the price development and the stock situation of operation of enterprises in the oil and gas industry.

According to information from the existing group, 32 business members of PVN listed shares on the stock exchanges market, captured 14.3% of the whole Vietnam stock market capitalization. With the goal of creating a channel of information, transparency of business activities and attracting investment in enterprises in the oil and gas industry, PVN has developed PVN Index-Index and assigned to an oil and gas stock company for implementation.

PVN Index-Index is divided into three main groups: representative group, investment group and industry group. Groups include all listed companies and stock trading registration on 3 stock markets including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh and UpCOM.

The investment group, namely PVN10, including 10 top company in the value of capital goods, has adjusted the number of stocks trading freedom (free-float market capitalization) and liquidity.

Industry groups in the PVN-Index are subdivision according to international standard of ICB (Industry Classification Benchmark) by company FTSE-UK developer. This industry standard has been currently widely applied to many industry index in the world.

All the indicators in these 3 above groups are calculated by two methods: index (price index) and the profit index (total return index) for objects of different investors. In addition, 4 popular currencies for PVN-Index Exchange: USD, EUR, JPY and USD, creating conditions for the foreign investors to correctly identify the profits.

PVN-Index is a stock index that meets international standards such as: (i)  calculated by the end of the day (end of day) and real time (real time); (ii) calculated according to the total profits (total return) and the stock price (price return); (iii) exchange of common currencies; (iv) the correction to the proportion of each of the shares does not constitute to 15% in each index in order to reduce the excessive influence of the big stocks; (v) the stock meets the standards for market capitalization (market capitalization), liquidity (liquidity)

The PVN Index-Index is built and managed by the Council including the index members who are prestigious and professional seniors in the oil and gas industry and in the fields of Economics, finance, and foreign securities.

PVN-Index Index has been promoted extensively through the website PVNINDEX. VIETNAM (Vietnamese and English) and Bloomberg Financial Information Channels as well as the financial news channels in the country.
