Science and technology is one of the breakthrough solutions to improve productivity, quality, production efficiency and sustainable development of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN).

This is the premise for scientific research and provide science and technology development. In order to enhance the capability of science and technology in the core business fields, PVN has focused on enhancing the capacity of Vietnam's oil and gas science and technology exploration and exploitation; gas of collection, transportation, store and use; petroleum and petrochemical processing; technology of petroleum projects; Construction and operation of power plants and the field of scientific research. This contributes to enhance the potential of petroleum science and technology, master and improve technology. In the field of gas industry, PVN has implemented the research and selection of optimal solutions for the operation and maintenance of the gas pipeline network; solutions for efficient use of gas, treatment of gas with high CO2 levels and conversion of fuel to expand the gas consumption market; To study and propose the appropriate gas price mechanism to develop gas fields.

In the area of ​​environmental safety and health, PVN has developed a system of advanced environmental control testing methods for chemicals used in the oil and gas industry to help the environmental management agency assess the level Hazard and Risk Management for the Use and Disposal of Hazardous Chemicals. To build a waste database and environmental monitoring, and to set up the VMEGIS system, to help manage the environmental protection situation related to oil and gas activities and plan for the oil spill incident response.
