Laos Minister of Energy and Mines visited and worked with Petrovietnam

On the morning of 4th April 2018 in Ha Noi, on the occasion of the visit to Vietnam, the delegation led by Minister Khammany Inthirath had a visit with Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam).

The meeting was attended by Mr. Tran Sy Thanh, Member of the Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Economic Commission, Chairman of PetroVietnam (PVN), members of the Board of Directors, representatives of PV Power, DMC, PV Oil, Blue Indochina.

PetroVietnam leaders met with leaders of Laos Ministry of Energy and Mines.

At the meeting, Chairman of the Board of Directors - Mr. Tran Sy Thanh, informed the delegation of Laos Ministry of Energy and Mines about the business activities of Petrovietnam in recent years, the plan of equitization in some member units which are operate in the field of services, implementation of energy projects and its member units in Laos as well as a number of projects to be implemented in the coming time.

Mr. Tran Sy Thanh gave the souvenir to Mr.Khammany Inthirath.

On behalf of the PetroVietnam leadership, Mr. Tran Sy Thanh thanked the Minister for his support and assistance to Petrovietnam and its member units. In particular, Mr. Tran Sy Thanh expressed his sincere thanks to the Laos People's Party, Laos Government and Laos people for the opportunity to participate in the Luong Prabang Hydropower Project. Mr. Tran Sy Thanh believes that on the basis of traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries, the two sides will continue to tighten cooperation in the future to bring efficiency and economic benefits, to contribute to the development of the Vietnam-Laos friendship becomes more and more profound and sustainable.

Laos Minister for Energy and Mines- Mr. Khammany Inthirath introduced the main features of the Lao economy in general and the activities of the energy and mining sector in particular - the spearhead economy of the country, making the largest contribution to the buget of Laos. He stressed that the Luong Prabang Hydropower Project is part of the Lao government's electricity development plan and wishes to work closely with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and Petrovietnam in considering issues related to the implementation of the project on scientific basis and achieving the highest efficiency.

On the afternoon of that day, PetroVietnam’s General Director Mr. Nguyen Vu Truong Son attended a meeting between Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh and Laos Minister of Energy and Mines Khammany Inthirath. The two Ministers agreed to instruct the relevant units to study and carefully consider the options for coordinating the effective implementation of projects between the two sides in order to promote and further strengthen the cooperation between the two ministries as well as the two governments.
