The adjusting and expansion plan of Nghi Son Economic Zone

The Prime Minister has just approved the plan of adjusting and expanding for Nghi Son Economic zone (EZ) until 2035, with a vision to 2050.

The scope of the plan includes the whole area of ​​Tinh Gia district (12 communes in the former Nghi Son EZ and the remaining communes of Tinh Gia district including three communes: Yen My, Cong Binh and Cong Chinh (Nong Cong district) and three communes: Thanh Tan, Thanh Ky and Yen Lac (Nhu Thanh district).

The general planning for construction of Nghi Son EZ is a multi-sectoral seaport with a focus on heavy and basic industry, closely associated with the construction and efficient exploitation of Nghi Son seaport; operating under a special incentive mechanism; it is going to be the driving force for socio-economic development of Thanh Hoa province and Northern Central region according to the model smart-green-sustainable urban.

It shall be the important traffic point for trading and connecting Northern Laos, Thai Lan Northern East, Thanh Hoa vicinities with domestic and international seaways through Nghi Son transportation system.

Forming the cities network

The center of Tinh Gia district shall be general center of Nghi Son Economic Zone. There are two mountainous areas surrounding Nghi Son Economic Zone. The first mountainous belt area is the former Nghi Son Economic Zone and Tinh Gia center urban area. The second mountainous belt area is Western and North Eastern area of expanded economic zone.

The main route of the economic zone is Northern West – Southern East from Cac Son mount (te highest point in the area) connecting the planed train station to Me Island. The satellite areas are built around this main route. There are five areas divided: Nghi Son Port, Southern Area, center urban, Northern East, and Western area.

The investment into tourism industry, forming sea tourism areas from Ghep river to Hai Thanh Commune, Bien Son island, Hon Me island, investing into construction works that enhancing the development of Yen My urban; attracting investment for tourism and golf projects in Yen My lake, Hao Hao lake, etc.

Urban areas: Implement housing development projects associated with social infrastructure as well as technical infrastructure for each urban area; meeting the renovation and arrangement of resettlement and social housing to meet responding to people's needs and urban formation; to build, renovate and supplement specialized centers such as trade centers, trade fairs, cultural centers, entertainment parks and sport centers.

Prime Minister has assigned Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee to announce the adjustment and expansion of the general planning on construction of Nghi Son EZ of Thanh Hoa province until 2035 with a vision to 2050, to organize the implementation of the planning according to the regulations of the current law.
