PVN successfully held the Exploration and Exploitation Conference in 2018

On March 23, the Conference of deployment plan of oil and gas exploration and exploitation in 2018, organized by Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) took place successfully in Vung Tau City. Oil and gas exploration and exploitation conference is an annual activity of PVN, where the wisdom is united for the evaluation of the results of the implementation of exploration and exploitation plans in each specific period.

Attending and directing the meeting was Mr. Tran Sy Thanh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Economic Board, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of PVN. Also attending the conference were Mr. Nguyen Vu Truong Son – President and CEO of PVN; members of the Members’ Council, the Board of Directors; President of Vietnam Petroleum Association Mr. Ngo Thuong San; representatives of central ministries, Boards and Branches; Managers of PVN's Departments /Offices; managers of units; the former managers of PVN together with representatives of employees engaged in oil and gas exploration and exploitation. Deputy General Director of PVN, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Thap and Mr. Nguyen Quynh Lam co-chaired the conference.

Conference’s over view.

As the opening speech, Chairman of PVN, Mr. Tran Sy Thanh said: As usual, PVN held the conference to evaluate the work of oil and gas exploration and exploitation in 2017, thereby recognizing the shortcomings, difficulties, challenges, lessons learned and jointly bringing concrete solutions to deploy and successfully implement the plan for exploration and exploitation of oil and gas in 2018, as well as define the targeted task of ensuring the completion of the plan for oil and gas exploration and exploitation in 2016-2020 period.

Mr. Tran Sy Thanh stated that in 2017, PVN faced and solved a series of related issues in the field of exploration and exploitation, thereby revealing constraints in management and investment which forced the field of exploration and exploitation to have more appropriate adjust.

The conference attendances heard the reports on exploration plan, appraisal and orientation for the next years of the Research and Exploration Board; status of implementation of mining exploitation and development plan in 2017, implementation of the plan in 2018 and the orientation of 2019-2020 period of the Oil and Gas Exploitation Board; plan for exploration and exploitation in 2018 and orientation for the period of 2018-2020 of Vietsovpetro; oil and gas exploited quantity and reserved remaining, planning for mining exploration, exploitation and development of PVEP, orientation of exploration and exploration activities of Cuu Long basin of PVEP; orientation of exploration and exploration activities of Cuu Long Basin of Vietnam Petroleum Institute; situation of abroad investment in exploration and exploitation and the tasks of the Overseas Project Board in 2018; proposal of mechanisms to encourage and attract investment in exploration and exploitation into plots opened in Vietnam by the Petroleum Contract Management Board.

The conference focused on the important issues and solutions of PVEP and other units in E&P in the current situation; analyzed and evaluated the successes and shortcomings of the solutions applied to complete the plan on increasing oil and gas reserve and production; took the lessons learned on management and operation during the implementation of the plan.

After a serious, science and wise working day, the Oil and Gas Exploration and Exploitation Conference in 2018 with the reports, evaluation and contribution has found important solutions to strengthen the determination for successfully implement the plan of oil and gas exploration and exploitation in 2018 and the plan for oil and gas exploration and exploitation in 2019-2020 period, ensuring the sustainable and effective development.
