Removing difficulties for businesses in exploiting wharfs in Nghi Son economic zone

Nghi Son seaports is planned with a total of 62 berths, 21 berths have been put into operation, in which the general port area has 10 berths, 11 specialized berths. From the beginning of 2021 up to now, there have been 561 turns of means of procedures through the port; total weight of import and export goods reached 13.58 million tons; total export turnover reached 1.9 billion USD (equal to 85% of the same period last year); total tax collection and payment to the state budget of goods through Nghi Son seaport reached more than VND 3,354 billion.

In recent years, Thanh Hoa province has spent considerable resources to invest in infrastructure, improve competitiveness in attracting investment into the province. Along with that, businesses have also invested thousands of billions of dong to develop port infrastructure, facilitate import and export activities and reduce costs for businesses.

However, in the process of operation, enterprises investing and exploiting port infrastructure are facing inadequacies in channel routes; inconsistency in certifying ships to enter / leave port and delay in safety checks before ships leave port.

Nghi Son International Port Company Limited has proposed to soon plan and arrange suitable resettlement areas for people to facilitate the port's operation and exploitation; consider and plan the arrangement for all fishermen in the new, safe and appropriate boat anchorage area; proposed to the Maritime Administration, the Ministry of Transport and the Government to soon upgrade and expand the main channel of the Nam Nghi Son Port area so that the main channel can navigate two-way ships at the same time and deepen the channel and that ships with a tonnage of up to 70,000 DWT entering/exiting ports in Nam Nghi Son Port cluster do not have to reduce their load.

On the side of the Management Board of Nghi Son Economic Zone and Industrial Zones of Thanh Hoa Province, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Thi suggested that along with performing well the tasks according to authority, it is necessary to closely coordinate with the relevant authorities and businesses to solve arising difficulties and problems; at the same time, connecting and attracting more businesses to open  international Contaner routes, and at the same time supervise the implementation of administrative procedures at Nghi Son Economic Zone, which is the focal point to help units and businesses connect with each other. to work best at the Economic Zone.
