In the morning of April 18th 2018, at PVN’s headquarter, Mr. Tran Sy Thanh – PVN’s Chairman met and worked with President and CEO of Marubeni Group – Mr. Fumiya Kokubo. Also attending the meeting were Mr. Hirohide Sagara, President of Marubeni Vietnam Co., Ltd. and executives of Marubeni in Japan and Vietnam. On the Petrovietnam side, there were Vice President -Mr. Nguyen Hung Dung, representatives of the Board of Directors of and the Departments of Gas, Power, Petroleum Processing and International Cooperation.
At the meeting, President and CEO of Marubeni, Mr. Fumiya Kokubo expressed his thanks to Petrovietnam's leaders for facilitating and supporting Marubeni's activities in the field of energy in Vietnam. Mr. Fumiya Kokubo briefly updated the results of Marubeni's major activities in Viet Nam in the past, and informed the Chairman of PVN - Mr. Tran Sy Thanh about the intention to expand the activities of Marubeni in Vietnam in the fields of electricity, gas and petrochemical products business

Marubeni Group made their presence in Vietnam very early. Since 1991, Marubeni has opened their representative offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, set up a business office in Quang Ngai province since 2009 to carry out commercial activities in many fields such as foods, chemicals, pulp, energy, metallic minerals, machinery equipment; involved in infrastructure related projects such as electricity, information, factories ... President and CEO - Fumiya Kokubo said that Marubeni attached great importance to Vietnamese market and expressed his wish to expand and strengthen the cooperation with Petrovietnam in the investment, implementation of a number of electricity, LNG gas projects and also to off-take the refineries products in Vietnam.
On behalf of PVN’s managers, PVN’s Chairman, Mr. Tran Sy Thanh expressed his thanks to Marubeni for their interest and effective cooperation in some projects of PetroVietnam and its affiliated companies. At the same time, he updated to the leaders of Marubeni about some present policies and regulations of Vietnam’s Government related to issues that foreign investors are interested. At the end of the meeting, Mr. Tran Sy Thanh expressed his appreciation and support to Japanese companies, including Marubeni, who invested in PetroVietnam's power, gas projects
