The initiatives of workers, engineers, and experts working at Dung Quat Oil Refinery have brought benefits worth over 10 million USD / year. In 2018, Binh Son Refinery and Petrochemical Company (BSR) had two solutions to achieve the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award.

The solution “Adjust and optimize operation figures in PRU section” in order to maximize the recovery of propylene products in the condition of Operation section at high capacity of 110-115% of the design which has been applied by BSR in the end of 2017.

At Dung Quat Refinery plant, since starting operating in 2008, SWS workshop has faced the technical problem that contains much oil and cannot be thoroughly separated at D-1801 oil separator, the impact badly to the ability to operate SWS workshops and downstream workshops. The amount of oil that obstructs the pipeline system and equipment as well as catalysts, quickly reducing activity leads to the SRU workshop having to stop continuously (every 3-5 months) to conduct cleaning and changing new catalysts. In addition, the amount of oil entering SWS workshop also causes deposits in the heat exchangers E-1801 / E-1803 / E-1805, causing heat loss, reducing equipment life due to lower corrosion, causing instability of SWS factory operation. After a period of research, experimentation, the solution "Researching durable emulsifying oil in sour water at SWS workshop" was born, successfully applied and solved technical problems at SWS workshop.

Two solutions of BSR have been applied and brought millions of dollars of Dung Quat oil refinery. This can be considered as the next development step in the application of innovations and scientific and technological solutions to production at BSR.

For 3 consecutive years (2015-2017), BSR continuously won high prizes in the VIFOTEC Award. The project "Improving reliability and optimizing operation of pressure reduction station in Dung Quat Refinery plant" won the VIFOTEC Third Prize in 2017. The solution "Reduce furnace wall temperature, reduce exhaust temperature and save fuel." for H-1101 heating furnace at crude oil distillation workshop (CDU), Dung Quat Refinery plant "won the Vifotec Third Prize in 2016. The solution" improving the reliability of the interlock system (INTERTRIP) between electric cables: 22kV / 22kV, 22kV / 6.6kV, 22kV / 0.4kV, 6.6kV / 6.6kV "won the second prize of VIFOTEC 2015. These initiatives helped Dung Quat Refinery operate safely and stably at a capacity of 105 -107%. In addition to monetary values, BSR's solutions and initiatives affirmed the height of Vietnamese gray matter, experts, engineers and workers at Dung Quat Refinery plant have mastered science and technology of petrochemical refinery, step by step reaching out to the world.
